Unisoft vs ShulCloud — the US synagogue leader, but not the world.

ShulCloud powers 1,600+ synagogues since 2010 — mostly US Conservative and Reform. If you're a Beth Habad, a French / Israeli / Belgian community, or you process more than $200K/year in donations, the numbers stop working. ShulCloud Premium is $289.99/mo before fundraising, charges Stripe fees on top, issues only 501(c)(3) receipts, and ships zero AI. Unisoft Unlimited is $249/mo flat, 0% commission, multi-fiscality, three AI agents, and a Tourism Extension for tourist Beth Habad.

Key differences

Where Unisoft stands apart from ShulCloud

ShulCloud is a real product with 1,600+ synagogues and 16 years of experience. We are not pretending otherwise. The question is not whether ShulCloud works — it does, especially for US Conservative and Reform congregations. The question is whether it fits a 2026 community that is multi-country, multi-currency, multi-language, and that doesn't want to lose 3% of every donation to a payment processor on top of a $290/month subscription.

Real cost per donation

Unisoft0% on the Unlimited plan ($249/mo). You only pay Stripe's native processing fee.
ShulCloudNo 0% option. Stripe fees (~2.9% + $0.30) are passed through on top of your monthly plan, and Bill.com transaction fees apply for vendor payments.

Entry plan with payments included

UnisoftEssential at $79/mo includes online payments. Unlimited at $249/mo flat for 0% commission.
ShulCloudStandard at $149.99/mo has no financial functions. To accept online payments you must take Premium at $289.99/mo. Fundraising and Hebrew school require Enterprise at $429.99/mo.

Multi-country tax receipts

UnisoftAuto-generated per donor country: CERFA (FR), Gift Aid (UK), 501(c)(3) (US), 46א (IL), Belgian Attestation 180, CRA (CA), German Spendenbescheinigung.
ShulCloudUS 501(c)(3) only. No automated CERFA, Gift Aid, IL 46א or other country-specific compliance — a blocker outside the United States.

Languages and currencies

UnisoftUI in English, French, Hebrew, Russian and Spanish. Any country, any currency, any tax system.
ShulCloudEnglish-only interface. US-centric workflows. International deployments are documented as edge cases, not first-class.

AI agents built in

UnisoftThree: Yossi (WhatsApp operations from voice notes), Zalmi (content & email generation), multilingual tourism chatbot.
ShulCloudNone. No AI assistants of any kind across the platform.

Tourism Extension for tourist Beth Habad

UnisoftShabbat seat reservations, kosher directory, live Booking.com & Airbnb sync, halakhic info (eruv, mikveh, candle lighting), multilingual chatbot per destination — included in Unlimited.
ShulCloudNot available. No tourism module exists in the product.

Open Banking auto-reconciliation

UnisoftConnects to 3,500+ banks across Europe, UK and Israel in read-only mode. Donations, pledges and expenses matched automatically.
ShulCloudNot available. Reconciliation is manual or via QuickBooks integration.

Synagogue-specific features

UnisoftAliyot, High Holy Days seating and pledges, Kiddush sponsorship, Bar/Bat Mitzvah tracking, Hebrew school, Yahrzeit reminders, family relationships.
ShulCloudMature on these features — kibbudim, High Holiday seating, cemetery, Hebrew school. ShulCloud's synagogue depth is real and we recognize it.

Audience reach

UnisoftSynagogues of all denominations, Beth Habad (local + tourist), Chabad on Campus, Jewish nonprofits worldwide.
ShulCloudMulti-denominational on paper but de facto US Conservative and Reform. Beth Habad and tourist Chabad use cases are not addressed.

Pricing transparency and stability

UnisoftPublic flat pricing. No surprise modules, no per-feature upsell, no transaction commission on Unlimited.
ShulCloudPublic pricing exists, but the modular plans push you up the ladder fast. Terms reserve the right to raise prices with 60 days notice; onboarding fees are non-refundable.

When to choose what

Pick the platform that fits your community

Choose Unisoft if

  • You want 0% transaction commission and a transparent flat monthly fee.
  • You operate outside the United States — France, Israel, UK, Belgium, Germany, Canada or anywhere else.
  • You issue tax receipts in multiple countries (CERFA, Gift Aid, 46א, Spendenbescheinigung).
  • You serve a Beth Habad — local or tourist — and need Shabbat seats, kosher directory and Booking/Airbnb sync.
  • You want operational AI on WhatsApp and content generation built in, not bolt-on.
  • You don't want to climb three pricing tiers to get fundraising and Hebrew school.

ShulCloud may suit you if

  • You are a US Conservative or Reform synagogue with a stable Stripe-based payment flow.
  • You want a vendor used by 1,600+ peer congregations with 16 years of operating history.
  • You don't need multi-country tax receipts or non-English UI.
  • You don't process enough donations for transaction fees to dominate your TCO.
Frequently asked

Unisoft vs ShulCloud — answers to common questions

How much does ShulCloud actually cost compared to Unisoft?

ShulCloud Standard ($149.99/mo) has no financial features — to accept online payments you need Premium at $289.99/mo, and to add fundraising and Hebrew school you need Enterprise at $429.99/mo. Stripe fees (~2.9% + $0.30) are paid on top. Unisoft Essential is $79/mo and Unisoft Unlimited is $249/mo flat with 0% transaction fees. For a community processing $500,000/year in donations, the 0% commission alone saves more than $14,000/year, before counting AI agents, Tourism Extension and Open Banking.

Can I migrate my ShulCloud data to Unisoft?

Yes. Migration is included in every Unisoft plan. Members, donors, donation history, family relationships, Yahrzeit anniversaries, events, High Holy Days seating — all imported. Most communities are fully migrated in under two weeks, and you get a full export of your existing data before you switch.

Is ShulCloud's 1,600+ synagogue claim a reason to stay?

It's a strong trust signal — and we don't dispute it. But scale on US Conservative congregations does not solve a French CERFA workflow, an Israeli 46א receipt, a Belgian Attestation 180, a multi-currency board report, or a Beth Habad that needs Shabbat seat reservations. A vendor at scale on the wrong feature set is still the wrong vendor for your community.

Does ShulCloud have AI agents like Yossi or Zalmi?

No. ShulCloud does not advertise any AI features. Unisoft includes three AI agents in Unlimited: Yossi runs operations on WhatsApp from voice notes (create forms, send campaigns, pull statistics), Zalmi generates landing pages and emails, and the multilingual tourism chatbot greets visitors 24/7 on websites and messaging apps.

I run a Beth Habad. Does ShulCloud have anything for tourist Chabad?

No. ShulCloud has no module for Shabbat seat reservations, no kosher directory, no Booking.com or Airbnb live sync, no per-destination halakhic info (eruv, mikveh, candle lighting), no multilingual tourism chatbot. Unisoft's Tourism Extension is included in Unlimited and was built specifically for tourist Beth Habad and shluchim worldwide.

What about issuing CERFA, IL 46א or Gift Aid receipts?

ShulCloud generates US 501(c)(3) receipts. It does not generate CERFA receipts for French donors, IL 46א receipts for Israeli donors, Belgian Attestation 180, or German Spendenbescheinigung — these have to be produced manually elsewhere. Unisoft auto-detects the donor's country of fiscal residence and issues the matching receipt automatically.
